Last Tuesday, November 2, Link Crew hosted Freshman Movie Night in the auditorium. The freshman lined up for a viewing of the perennial classic, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, as Link Crew advisor Ms. Kimball popped popcorn for intermission and leaders served refreshments. While the turnout was not as strong as many had hoped, the evening was still full of entertainment and excitement. “The movie was great,” said freshmen Tanay Lathia, “I had a lot of fun.”

The 1986 movie starring Matthew Broderick as a delinquent student has long been a favorite of high school students. As the title suggest, Broderick’s character skips school one day to have the time of his life with his girlfriend and best friend. The day of pure fun that follows is something that everyone can enjoy.

Movie night also was host to several competitions. Caitlin Foster and Isabel Simon won the Freshman Raffle, while birthday boy A.J. Butler received an honorary prize. Of the evening Butler said, “Movie night was a lot of fun. Everyone had a great time. Between the awesome movie and the raffle, it was anything but boring.” Link Leaders Nicole DeChello and Maya Brownstein, both juniors, tied in the contest for most Link Crew members in attendance with three each.

Link Leader Kim Simon summed up the mood of the evening. “It went well. Although we didn’t have the turn out we wanted, those who did attend had a really great time. It is a great movie and it is really fun to watch it on the huge screen in the auditorium. We had a lot of good food and it was a really fun night,” said Simon. This message was echoed by fellow Leader Elise Bitterman. “Freshman Movie Night was great,” she said. “Although the entire freshman class did not come, those who did seemed to have a good time.” No matter the turnout, it seems a great movie, friends, and good food can never disappoint.
